Georgia Academy of Audiology

The Georgia Academy of Audiology (GAA) will hold its fifth annual conference at the Marietta Conference Center and Resort ( February 1-3, featuring an impressive venue of presenters and events.

Two pre-conference workshops will be held on Thursday, February 1. Gail Whitelaw, PhD, will present “Auditory Processing Disorders”, and Richard Gans, PhD, will present “Balance Disorders.”

Friday and Saturday offer a full schedule of seminars and presentations by world-class experts in hearing care, including Victor Bray, PhD, Carmen Brewer, PhD, Laurel Christensen, PhD, David Fabry, PhD, Francis Kuk, PhD, Alan Freint, MD, Richard Gans, PhD, Craig Newman, PhD, Paul Pessis, AuD, Tom Powers, PhD, Don Schum, PhD, Johnnie Sexton, Robert Sweetow, PhD, Tim Trine, PhD, Michael Valente, PhD, and Daniel Shumaier, PhD. Several of these audiologists will also be participating in a “Great Debate” covering many hot topics in audiology.

Kansas Hearing Society

The Kansas Hearing Society will hold its annual educational conference March 8-10, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, Topeka, Kan. The event, titled “Trends and Factors Affecting the Use of Amplification in the Treatment of Hearing Loss…An Interactive Conference,” is planned to offer 12 CEUs that have been requested from the states of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, as well as CEUs from the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), Kansas Department of Health & Environment, and the International Institute for Hearing Instrument Studies.

The conference chairman is Kenneth Smith, PhD. Audiologists from all work settings, hearing instrument specialists, and audiology students and interns are welcome to attend. Additionally, a special session for office staff will be held.
